Carnegie Mellon : Summer Advanced Placement/Early Admission - Introduction to Accounting
Field:
Pre-College Summer Session students are limited to enrolling in 23 or fewer units because all courses in this six-week
summer term cover material from the longer fall and spring semesters. We are instituted this policy in 2016 because we
found students who enroll in excessive units cannot experience everything Pre-College has to offer. Students who do
enroll in 23 units may be expected to study challenging Carnegie Mellon academic material for at least 57 hours every
week. For more information, contact Pre-College Summer Session Director Dr. William Alba (alba@cmu.edu,

Students (either individually or in teams of two) create a “best stock idea” and analyze a publicly-traded company–sometimes meeting with company management. Each student/team writes a report on their chosen company with a “Buy” or “Sell” recommendation and then presents and defends their analysis in a written report and brief to a panel of industry professionals.
